Hip-Hop in Davis

Rap, R&B, Beats, and Dance Nights

Hip-hop in Davis includes lyric-first rap and boom-bap, trap and drill, R&B singers, and producers who build their sets around samples and live beats. A show can be a student showcase, a cypher where MCs trade verses over a looped beat, or a touring artist on one of the stages at UC Davis.

Hip-hop is built for the dance floor as much as the stage. DJs mix current club tracks with throwback sets from earlier eras for crowds who came to dance, and dance crews and breakers can turn a night into a battle or a showcase of their own.
