Davis Music Guide (davismusicguide.com) is a live music calendar and news site for Davis, California. This page explains what information the site collects and what we do with it.

What we collect

Newsletter signup: your email address.
Event submissions: the event details you enter, any image you upload, your email address if you give one, and whether you checked the newsletter box. Event details and images are published with the listing. Your email address isn’t published.
Contact form: your name, email address, and message.
Server logs: like most websites, our hosting keeps standard logs that include IP addresses and browser information.

How we use it

We use your email address to send the newsletter if you signed up, to follow up on an event you submitted, or to reply to a message. We don’t sell or rent personal information.

Services we use

The newsletter is sent through beehiiv, which stores subscriber email addresses. See beehiiv’s privacy policy. The site is hosted by InMotion Hosting.

We also use three Google services:

Google Analytics shows us how many people visit and which pages they view.
Google Maps shows venue locations on event and venue pages.
Google reCAPTCHA blocks spam on the contact and event submission forms. It collects information about your browser and device and sends it to Google.

See Google’s privacy policy.

Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and see how people use the site. It collects information such as the pages you view, how you got to the site, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. It doesn’t give us your name or email address. Google Maps and reCAPTCHA may also set cookies when a map or form loads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can block cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics. The site works the same either way, though maps and forms may not load if Google cookies are blocked.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There’s no common standard for responding to it, so the site doesn’t change how it works when it receives one.
