Katalysst plays songs from Atlas, its new EP, at this release party. The EP comes out everywhere on October 30, so the show is an early chance to hear it. The duo describes its sound as female-fronted, harmony-forward post-folk rock. Kat sings with a classical operatic background and plays acoustic guitar, while Alyssa, who writes the material, handles a melodic electric bass that carries more than the rhythm. Their writing takes on social and economic problems, with a few love songs in the mix.
Oliver Storian opens with a set of their own and then joins Katalysst for a few numbers. Storian is a singer who also plays keys, guitar and accordion.
The afternoon show is at a house at 518 Miller Drive in Davis, with food and drinks.
